Loving our fur babies through happy and sad times!

Many pets hold a special place in someone's heart! Dogs are my weakness! How many people have dogs that are more family member than simply a pet? Our fur babies are kind to us. Sometimes they let us eat first, they take us for rides in the car, they sit in our laps and comfort us, they take us for walks, they follow us in the garden and protect us from everything that moves outside the fence. Sometimes they let us chase the ball because they are kind, considerate, loving and want to make us happy.
Hi, my name is Snorkel
Our fur babies keep the kitchen floor clean, spit shine the windows and make sure we know when someone arrives at the door!  🐾

We feel their pain when they are down, sick, injured or aging. Twice in the last week we were exposed to heart trauma (ours) for our loving fur babies. Yesterday our Snorkel boy was stung by a wasp. I wasn't home. Snorkel scratched at the door - something he has never done.  When my husband Jess opened the door Snorkel was wheezing and could barely breathe - he was shaken and asking for help. Time was of the essence as Jess raced to take Snorkel to Dr. Tyler, 25 minutes away. By the time he arrived, Snorkel was covered in welts, his eyes were swollen nearly shut, his mouth was swollen and he had stopped breathing once during the trip. Within minutes after arriving at the clinic Snorkel received a shot of Prednisone, helping reverse the symptoms. Snorkel came home and received a dose of Benadryl. By bedtime he was recovering nicely but still shaken. We are thankful Snorkel is on the mend and now we know he has a wasp allergy! While I believe wholeheartedly in my essential oils for managing health issues at home there is no trade off for our wonderful docs and life saving measures! 🐾

Our second trauma to the heart was the loss of cousin Jim's fur baby during an emergency surgery last week. While Jim was visiting here in Montana his Hailey girl was taken by his sweetie Celia into surgery in Florida.  After a long, loving relationship Hailey walked the rainbow bridge where she will no doubt wait for Jim and Celia to arrive. We were all saddened, shocked and truly heart broken for their loss. We attended a small funeral service for Hailey arranged by the youngest of our loving cousins. Stories were told, memories shared and a long healing begun, travelling in an endless journey of the heart. I am reminded at this time of pets still wandering in my heart! 🐾

The love of a fur baby is genuine, hardy and unwavering. Likewise when our fur babies suffer we too suffer. Smiling through tears as memories tug at our heart strings. We will never forget the look in their eyes, the wag of their tail nor the way they greeted us at the door. Yet we cannot let this be our last fur baby! We ache and we move on. With so many pets needing rescued and loved we continue to fill their need as they fill ours! 🐾
